I'm extremely pissed off by Verizon!

I purchased a XV6700 on eBay planning using it as PDA only, no data plan at all, and I plan using it's WI-FI feature when there is WI-FI router near by.

The mobile phone store did not tell me that if I use PDA then I have to have data plan and they don't know about it.

So I have this PDA phone with a $39.99 monthly voice plan, and it attaches another $44.99 data plan automatically, without mine or mobile phone store's notice.

I was charged about half month of data for first month, so I went back to mobile phone store, they contacted Verizon and told me the plan has been taken off and credited back.

It's not. The data plan appeared on 2nd month's bill. I went back to store again, they contacted Verizon and told me it's definitely been taken off and credited back.

It's not. I was charged more with $118 in 3rd month! I asked the store to contact Verizon again and they did. The store told me that I did used the phone to surf the internet. I did! But I'm using WIFI at home to get on internet!

The store ask me to contact Verizon directly and I did. Verizon told me that if I'm using PDA phone, then I have to have data plan. So what they have taken off is the unlimited data plan, but then put me on as-you-go data plan!

So when I'm surfing at home, they charged me with as-you-go rate. What I have downloaded (surfing) in my little VX6700 was a meager 7MB data, and I was charged $118!

I argued with Verizon and they told me that I have 2 choices.
1st. KEEP using XV6700 and HAVE a data plan or
2nd. BUY A NEW PHONE and switch to a new plan!

then they will refund my money!

Ahh here is where your problem began. It snowballed right after you activated the phone to your account. You can't get billed if the phone isn't activated in your name & if you do so, you can't use it as a PDA only.

IMHO you have made a bad PDA purchase from the start. Not your fault but yeah the XV6700 wasn't a good candidate for your needs.

How much did you end up paying for it on Ebay?

I want a phone & PDA combo and of course it has to be under my name. If I don't activate it, how can I use the voice function?

So what's the model that can be a phone & PDA without data plan?
I'm not interested in Palm or BlackBerry. I want a Windows Mobile device.

You don't. Period. You do NOT need a data plan, and you shouldn't have to pay charges for data if you didn't request it. If I were you I would harass Verizon customer service until they credit you for the money--you shouldn't have to pay it, since you explicitly did not want any data access on the phone. Have them block data on your account. With this in place, you won't be able to get cellular internet, so there's no chance of running up any more charges.

You might also want to contact the Better Business Bureau. Trying to hold your money ransom to making you upgrade either your plan or your phone is an extremely unethical thing to do, and may be illegal depending on your state laws.

Sorry, I should say I planned using it as phone & PDA only but no data plan, not just PDA.

I filed a complaint form on Better Business Bureau website, will see what happen.

I'd suggest you go into Settings > Connections > Connections and delete the connection to Verizon's data network. It's probably called something like "VZW Browser".

This will prevent your smartphone from making a data connection besides the Wi-Fi one, but won't affect your voice service.

If they saw the 7MB go through their system then maybe you aren't really connected to your wireless.
