Question Memory Allocation for Sprint PPC6700

Hello all, I recently upgraded from a PPC6601 to a PPC6700 and have been mostly satisfied but I seems more sluggish with loading programs. The PPC6600 and 6601 have a slider bar to allocate memory to and from storage and or programs. Since I have a big storage card I would allocate memory form storage to programs but the slider allocation is not on the 6700 (or at least I cannot find it) to do this. Does anyone know how to reallocate memory, and or know how to remove the bulky unnecessary Sprint programs?

    Thanks,
    extecious

Apples and oranges. The 6600 is a Symbian OS, the 6601 is Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition, and the 6700 is Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.

There is no allocation/slider bar in WM5. Any program that shows up in Add/Remove Programs is eligible for removal.

Actually, the PPC6600 is a Windows Mobile 2003 device. You're thinking of the Nokia 6600.

Anyway, JohnDoe is correct about the memory slider: the memory model of Windows Mobile 5 has changed so that all RAM is now used for program memory, with storage residing in the device's flash.

Unfortunately, there's no way to remove programs which are installed in the operating system's area of the memory (known as ROM, or Read Only Memory).

aCtually, there is a way to remove the software (i did it in the past but lost the pages of how to do it)

It requires a hard reset, then a soft reset before it starts to load the spamware. then you use total commander and go into the rom (i forgot the address and am looking for it now) and reinstall only the programs you want/need (yes, there actually is programs you will need because it is not all spyware)

edit: found a sight with the info but there are better i think

    From HowardForums:

    "Steps:

    1. Hard reboot the phone. This is done by holding the two soft keys and pressing the reset button. Hit "Y" to continue.

    2. Go through the screen calibration, zone and password screens.

    3. When you get to the "Complete" blue screen where it asks you to tap to start using the device, put the stylus on the reset button but don't press it.

    4. Tap on the screen. You will get a message saying that the OEM (Verizon) customizations will be installed on 3 seconds.

    5. Hit reset as soon as you see the message and you're all set.

When the phone reboots you will have a fully functional 'unbranded' phone without all the garbage Verizon adds to it."

I haven't tried it myself, so do so at your own risk
