    Default XV6700 Volume

Does anyone else have a volume problem on the actual phone? I find it really hard to hear, either with it up to my ear or through my Bluetooth headset. The volume is cranked as high as it will go on the slider but does anyone know a work-around to get a little more juice out of it?

    Thanks,

    David

Have you already upgraded the firmware in the phone?

Patch link in the first post of this thread: UTStarcom releases Verizon XV6700 ROM Upgrade

I found that the volume seemed louder after patching the phone.

has anyone done anything else because the volume on this thing is rediculously crappy. i have to turn the speaker phone on just to put the mic to my ear and my hearing is very good.
PDA finally got here, the PalmOne representative i bought it from, LIED to me and told me it came with a full year warranty.

I have an SD 1 gig card. Put 20+ songs on the card and Real Player only shows about 10 of them.

Yep, both the ringer and call volume on this phone is softer than any other phone I've had.

On a Sprint you can do this:

You need your MLS number to do this. You can get it from Sprint if you ask. You may need to tell them that you are updating your ROM manually. Without the code you can do the same thing but click "View" instead of "Edit". This will allow you to see many of the settings but not change them. Even if you don't have your code, you can use View to see many of the settings from the pull down menus.

    1. Dial ##778#
    2. Select Edit
    3. Enter MLS Code (Unlock)
    4. From the Top, select CDMA Settings
    5. Change EVRC Enabled to Disabled
    6. Change Home Page to Voice 13k
    7. Change Home Orig to Voice 13k
    8. Change Roam Orig to Voice 13k

There is similar functionality for the Verizon phones but there are probably some small differences in the accessing, such as you may not need the last "#" in the first step. Don't edit anything unless you are comfortable with possible unintended consequences.

By the way, before trying this, remember that call volume needs to be adjusted while on a call. That alone solves many problems.
