Hey Ripper,
I actually bought my a730 off ebay. I ended up paying $500 USD including shipping, and avoided border taxes by having it shipped as a warrenty replacement. I wasn't able to find any Canadian dealers for it, and Proportable wanted $500 plus $50 to ship to Canada and I would have had border fees on top of that.
As for the previous question, I'm pretty sure the 5gb seagate will work in the Asus. My 4gb Hitachi works great, and I don't think there's much difference between the two (compatibility wise).
Here's just a quick picture that I snapped with the Asus out my backyard. I had to resize it to post it here, but it gives a general idea of the quality:

Sounds like you found a great device that suits your needs... its to bad I did not hear this earlier... there was someone at PocketMatrix that had two... and his wife did not want hers... he was selling it for $425us... with free shipping...
Anyway... looks like the camera does an adueqate job... for what it is suppose to be used for...
Again thanks for all your insite...Local User Group: http://www.vancouverpocketpc.com/

For those interested, the Pharos CF GPS and Ostia software also work with the Asus.

Another interesting note. With this program:
http://forge.topcat.hu/frs/?group_id=6
the A730 can play nintendo ROMs using Morphgear at 60fps with sound. That is better than any of the devices that I've previosly owned. The program temporarily changes the screen to QVGA so that software scaling isn't neccessary.

According to PROPortable, it will be toward the end of this month. They are taking preorders and claim the the first shipment into the US will be 600 units. They will get all of them and preorders will actually ship from Asus directly.

it looks like the 730 is the daddy for gaming, no Button Lag, and its buttons are well laid out compared to the opposition.
my replacement arrived today

$100 seems pretty reasonable to me.
For the price you get another 64 MB of RAM and Wi-Fi.
For me, just the memory would be almost be worth it.

Yeah, think of the Axim x50v owners who would shell out $199 to PocketPCTechs to get 128MB!
Can any of you Asus owners test the USB host capabilities (such as when connected to an external USB hard drive and streaming divx movies to betaplayer?). Have heard speed issues w/ the FS Loox 720's USB and was wondering if the ASUS's had the same problem.
Still considering the A730w, but leaning towards the Loox because of ConsumerIR. Might end up with the ASUS anyway since it'll have manufacturer warranty here in the states.
I really wish the A730w would be released so we can get an idea of people's impressions on the device.Trapper Keeper->Dayrunner->Timex/Microsoft Datalink-> NEC MobilePro400->Toshiba Libretto->HP Jornada 568->HP Ipaq 2215->
