As above, latest VGA PDA from HP, only a couple of months old. Like new condition, everything new in business box. Decided I really don't like the touch pad...even though it works fine. Price includes shipping in USA. Prefer Paypal. Thanks.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this "smooth deal" was as phony as a $3 bill. When you're the first person to respond to an offer and are eventually told that someone else sent a prior PM you get suspicious. When that person surfaces as a new member with a registration date a day AFTER they supposedly sent a PM, you know you've been told a fish story.

Perhaps he (solo) e-mailed the seller directly, since the e-mail address was listed on the original ad. Also, he may have offered more than the asked price.

In any case, I think that it IS the prerogative of the person selling to sell to whomever he decides, providing he hasn't already committed in some way to you.

Just my 2 cents...

That would be a possibility if I hadn't been specifically told that it was a PM sent prior to my correspondence.

Absolutely, but then don't concoct a fabricated tale that someone else has priority due to an earlier PM.

I'm with MacPPC on this one. The price alone was fishy.

Hmm...I guess it is starting to sound a bit fishy, isn't it.

Maybe it's best you didn't get messed up in this little "deal".

i'm sorry for how you feel. Indeed i emailed the seller directly befor l replied to the post. The seller, philip was a very courteous gentleman. we exchanged our telephone numbers immediately, and he was very upfront and honest in the transaction. i hope this hasn't caused any inconvenience to you.

i hope that you will find another unit at a price like this.

best regards,

ted

I don't see anything in this thread that makes the deal here look fishy...Was there some private message or email in which he said that Solo PM'd and not emailed the seller? I prefer to email people when buying something, and as a seller I usually prefer to be emailed.

If Solo had never registered and posted, the seller would probably have just posted "SOLD" and might not have explained anything else. Nor should he have to. It seems more like a potential buyer is agitated at not getting a pretty good deal because someone else got there first. I just don't want a potentially good person to have their screen name trashed without a good reason. It has happened to me elsewhere and it is not a good feeling.

The initial response from Rasputin was "I've been OOT today and just got back for a minute. Are you still interested? If so, where are you and how do you want to pay?" Why would you state that if someone else had contacted you earlier. Later that night I was told someone else PM him before I did. Judge for yourself.

I see MacPPC has some issues with the timing of the correspondence, but what makes it look fishy to me is he is selling a like new $650 PDA for $425.

Deals that good are usually not legit...there are always exceptions, but I would rather let someone else take that chance :)
