Hi,
I'm looking for a keyboard to go with my new dell axim.
I've heard dell was selling one already, but would to keep my options open.
The description of the dell states that there are currently 2 keyboards.
Does anyone know where I can find these keyboards that are compatible with dell??
Thank you

The second keyboard is a snap-on thumb keypad. Dell currently makes the only keyboards for the Axim.

If anyone's interested...i've been searching for third party keyboard for the dell axim.
I found a pocketop keyboard for 99us dollars.
its really really cool. Its coming out January 2003.
Unfortunately, the reason I was looking for a keyboard was b/c the dell one (99Us) was too expensive. So if anyone sees any keyboards that are coming out that are on sale... please post a reply...Thanks.
Check out the pocketop keyboard at

The pockettop is already out actually...I'm not a ver big fan of it though. Depending on where your IR port is and the ability of the PDA to rotate it's screen, the wireless is nice but renderd the keyboard useless much of the time. The cheapest you find any of those foldable keyboards is $90, so I'd just wait for the 10% off accessories coupon to buy.

Would you rather get the keyboard for dell or get the pocketop keyboard.
and what 10% off accessory coupon are you talking about?
thank you

The Dell, without question. Regarding the 10% off, Dell has this kind of sale all the time. Just be patient and you'll get the keyboard on sale. We'll let you know when those sales are as best we can.

having bought the Dell keyboard (yet still waiting for it...) I am happy to hear you say you'd choose the Dell, but why? Why would you choose the Dell keyboard? have you sat down with one and favorably compared it with the Stowaway XT Ultra-Thin for the palm? or is there an assumption that because it was engineered with the PDA that it will work better than, say, a generic IR keyboard?

My thought is that it uses the same technology as almost every other PDA keyboard. It wont's be as nice and light as the new Stowaway, but it should be better than the Pocketop. The IR just really doesn't add any value, in fact I think it detracts from the usability.

I believe that theres only two keyboards... and a third keyboard coming out by pocketop for the dell axim...So really..if you were to compare keyboards for the dell axim...those three should only be your choices for now.
Unfortunately Stowaway keyboards shouldn't be in the equation.

The stowaway was meant to be a comparison for what a 'good' keyboard was like, not for what an axim keyboard was like. Sorry for any confusion.

No problem...it was a fair question.

Does anyone know if the current Targus foldable Keyboards work with the Axim?
Thanks

I believe Targus does not carry keyboards that are compatible with Dell axims.
Hmm..seems like a lot of people are looking for keyboards.
We should all hassle companys to make dell axim compatibility keyboards...
Will benefit us and them!!

None of the current Targus models will work...why not just buy the one from Dell? It seems to be fine enough.
