Capacity(milliamp hours)-------1440mAh---------------3400mAh
Weight(grams)-------------------45g--------------------93g
Dimensions (inches)------3.12 x 2.41 x 0.252-------3.19 x 2.41 x .52
Dimensions (mm)--------79.31 x 61.3 x 6.40-------81.06 x 61.3 x 13.1

Capacity/weight it's worst, and the thickness is way bigger, as expected. It's also a little taller.
BUUUUUT, it's 136% more capacity. With this, Axim will last eons.;)

Wow - with the extended battery the Axim is 1.2 inches thick! That's quite a bit...but I guess a full day's worth of battery life is worth the size sacrifice. ;)

No one here actually has an extended battery yet, do they?

I ordered the spare 1440 battery with my Axim. Same size as the one shipped with the unit of course. The cradle has a spot to charge the spare in the back. The battery is so small you can put it in your case for the unit. I prefer 2 small batteries I can swap out than one bulky one attached to the unit.

Looks to me like it should still be less than an inch thick (after you subtract out the width of the 1440mAh battery. But, I agree with GODfAtHeR -- two 1440mAh batteries seem the way to go.

The larger 3400 mA/hr battery has a slightly higher power/weight and power/size ratio:

Capacity(milliamp hours)-------1440mAh---------------3400mAh
Weight(grams)-------------------45g--------------------93g
Dimensions (inches)------3.12 x 2.41 x 0.252-------3.19 x 2.41 x .52

Milliamp/hour per gram:

1440mAh / 45g = 32mA/g 3400mAh / 93g = 36.6mA/g
An increase of capacity per weight of battery of 14%
Advantage: 3400mAh battery

Milliamp/hr per cubic inch:

If 3.12 x 2.41 x 0.252 = 1.895 in^3 for the 1440mAh battery
and 3.19 x 2.41 x .52 = 3.998 in^3 for the 3400mAh battery

1440mAh / 1.895 in^3 = 760mA/in^3
vs
3400mAh / 3.998 in^3 = 860mA/in^3
An increase of capacity per volume of battery of 13%
Advantage: 3400mAh battery

1440mAh battery costs $59 (neglect the sale) = 24mAh / dollar
3400mAh battery costs $129 (neglect the sale) = 26mAh / dollar

A decrease of capacity per cost of battery of 8%
Advantage: 1440mAh battery

Interesting... Even though basically you get more power and storage per weight/volume by using the 3400mAh battery, an increase of 14%/13% respectively, there is a price for that convenience of not having to change the battery (as apposed to changing it once if you had used another 1440mAh battery in its place). The price is -8%. And sinking $129 for a battery may be hard for some. So for cost, having a 2nd 1440mAh battery is the better deal, plus its smaller. But for convenience, not caring about the extra .25" of depth of the 3400mAh battery, and a very long life between charges, it could be worth spending the extra 8% per mAh to get the 3400mAh battery. And if you are like me, who may have larger hands/longer fingers, and/or plays YAME on it all the time, the extra depth (to have more to hold) may be better; sort of analogous to choosing to using a thinker pen to write with vs a thin pen. I'd prefer a thicker pen.

Anyway I hope this was helpful for anyone considering purchasing another battery. It certainly was to me.
