Is there anywhere I can download ActiveSync for the Axim? I don't have the CD with me right now but I need to install it at work.

I installed ActiveSync via the Microsoft website but it doesn't seem to recognize my Axim.

Thanks.

My understanding is that activesync is generic for PPC's - there is not a separate version for the Axim.

Did you try version 3.5 or 3.6?

What OS are you running at work?

I downloaded 3.5 from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/downloads/activesync35.asp

I just installed XP at work (a clean install, which is why I need to reinstall ActiveSync).

Thanks...

Thanks. The ActiveSync you downloaded, even though it is the latest (v3.6) only includes drivers for the PocketPCs that were available at the time it was released. That was some months ago. The CD that comes with the Axim contains an earlier version of ActiveSync (v3.5) but it has the drivers needed so that your Axim is recognized. If you are versed in installing/updating drivers, it should not be a problem to add the Dell Axim drivers to your system. The procedure is slightly different depending on which version of Windows you have.
One thing that causes confusion is that a USB device has to be present in order for you to see it in Device Manager so that you can update its drivers.
Probably next release of ActiveSync will include the Dell Axim drivers in its own install package.

Hi Fuzzy John,

That sounds right - when I connect my Axim it says "USB Device Found" but doesn't know what it is.

When I run ActiveSync it sends me to the connections setup, and says USB is available but doesn't locate the PDA.

So where can I get the Axim driver??

Thanks.

here are the drivers. unzip them to a folder and when it finds new USB device go to manual setup and point it to the folder

This made my life impossible a week ago too. Dumb Dell hasn't put the drivers up on their website, even though there is a download section for the Axim.
