So now that I have my Axim, it appears that it has the same d-pad problem that other users have reported (hard to go to the right). Could I get some confirmation from someone who sent his back as to whether or not it's worth it, i.e. is the problem really fixed? If not, I can live with it the way it is - it's still a lot better than the e740. But if it's fixable, I'd like it fixed. Any insight? :(

I think I got my D-Pad installed the wrong way. While everybody complains about right side, mine screws up the UP direction:D

I don't have a problem with my D-pad other than EVERY so often it will stick in one direction if I hold it down for an extended amount of time. Other than that, it was just getting used to it after switching from Casio.

Unfortunately, I do have a problem with it... :(

So has no one here sent his unit back to Dell for a replacement/repair?

Do you ever go to pocketpcpassion.com? I think a few people over there have.

My Navigator Button has a problem moving smoothly to the right.

I phoned Dell (Canada) about it the other day. They sent me a replacement (received it 24 hours later!)

However, the 'replacement' had a similar problem. I will wait for a month or two. Maybe the current batch in Canada is more prone to have this problem.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll go check it out. :)

Well, since I'm not in Canada, I think might try it out. I can just keep getting replacements until I get a fixed one, right? And I'd get it within 24 hours...impressive. ;)

i think there is someone who posted on this site that they exchanged theirs and the new one had a perfect d pad! I called a couple days ago and they said they would send me a new one within three to five days. If the new one has the same problem then I'll live with it. If it's fixed then great.

What about the fact that the "5-way" pad advertised doesn't have any abilitity to be mapped for a push option. Isn't that one of the 5 ways?

That's the fifth way, and it doesn't work, but I just assumed Dell was aware of the issue and would fix it with a patch. If not, somebody will probably figure out a way to get it working through the registry or something.

Dell actually calls it the 'NAVIGTOR BUTTON' and nowhere does it mean the 5th disease - or 5th button.

Well, I don't know where they get that from, because when I mapped the buttons in Media Player, pressing the D-Pad didn't register anything. The 'action' button was identified by pressing the jog 'wheel'.

I suppose it is a 5-way, in the sense that you can depress the button and it does click. There's just no brains behind the click!

actually - on the flash demo spec sheet it says that the navigator button is 4-way
