Default Documents to Go to SD card without Sync?

I've finally given up on trying to sync with Windows 7. I got it to work just a few times, but really jacked up my system trying to set up the blue tooth sync some have had success with.

Anyway, I have a batch file that backs up my SD card backup to my laptop and I import the calendar to Mozilla Sunbird, which basically covers what I need vis a vis Palm-PC communication...save for one thing.

I want to be able to copy Word docs from my computer to my Palm and access them using the T3's Documents to Go software. I can go backwards (Palm to PC) but without using the built-in sync program, D2G won't recognize *.doc files in the \documents directory of my SD card...

I have the software that came with the T3 installed on my Windows 7 PC and have been trying to find a work-around, somehow using the D2G conversion utility and copying to SD card, without Syncing. So far, no luck... Anyone have any idea?

What version of Docs2Go are you using? Newer versions allowed copying docs to SD card using card reader and then using on Palm. Sync with D2G was always problematic at best.

Version 6 should be able to open native .doc formatted word files from the SD card. (not docx). They should show up after you have searched the SD card in DTG. It has been a long time so I don't remember the specifics, but I know for sure that version 6 on opened native word documents on the SD card, no conversion required. Many of us just dropped the desktop component at that time.

Thanks, Hook! Do I have to put it in a particular folder?

At root level, create a folder called Documents if you don't already have one & put them in there. That's where I have all of my .txt docs on my TX. Docs2Go knows to look there. I'm using v.7.006.

I'm trying to remember. Mine on my TX are in Palm/Programs/DXTX, but I don't remember if they had to be there.Later versions of DTG (I have 10) go a file manager interface that allowed you to look for docs anywhere on the SD card. I don't remember if the old cscan for docs interface scnned all folders or only the DXTX folder, so try the DXTX folder I described, but you may be able to use a less buried folder if you scan the card. I think the scan used to be slow.

Again, been away from this a few years now, sorry.

EDIT: hee hee Lauren beat me to the post. She is probably a better source on this. :-)

Hook, I don't have any docs in that folder that you mentioned. It's empty.

Gave me another good reason to fiddle with a TX. A good reason other than DateBk6, which is my main daily app.
