Unhappy Restoring data to new Desktop installation

    Folks

I had to re-install Palm Desktop (v4.1.4) on my work laptop after a rebuild messed up the original (fully-working) config. I was hoping to copy back the data files into the new folder structure and be back to where I was before the rebuild, but it doesn't seem to do the trick. What is the link between the .dat files in the datebook/todo/contact folders and the actual Palm Desktop?

    Specifically, what I did was:
    1. back up the data file folder structure (D:\program Files\PalmOne\<user-name>) to another location
    2. re-install Palm Desktop using PD414eSetup.exe from the Palm website
    3. copy the .dat files into the new folder structure

As a variant, I also tried creating a brand-new data folder and pointing Desktop to it (using Tools|Options).

Neither of these works. I don't see any data in the Calendar, Task list or Contacts. Weirdly, the Memo app is fully populated with my original data. And I have checked that the Category filter wasn't on.

Any ideas how I can get the data back into my Desktop, please?

What's the difference between the downloads: PD414e and PD414EN? Could that be the cause of my problem?
I'm on Win XP Pro and Tungsten T3.

Hunch was right ... removed PD414e and installed PD414EN. Magically, my data has re-appeared.
