    Good luck!
The wine sounds like a grand idea! I think the problem *might* be solved...I found an easier way to root the phone, and part of that process involved wiping cache while in the bootloader -- I'm thinking that was the key. Anywho, I'll play with it this week, and if I can avoid a factory reset, so much the better, even tho I now have a titanium backup set.

Does this problem started only after the update? Have you tried poking around in the headset port with a toothpick or something? Does the sound pops up? When you don’t have speaker sound you mentioned your headphones are fine. I suggest you better get it to a tech to check the hardware. The soldering might not be good. If the problem started only after the update, download a sound boost app and check whether the sound comes again. Hope you get your problem solved Rick.

If you think it is a software issue, back up your data and do a factory reset. Download an app called watch dog. It is a task manager app. Use it to check whether some apps are trying to take over the memory and killing the sound. If it doesn’t work maybe the connection to the speaker is not proper. You have mentioned when the speaker is not working, the headphones are fine. Try gently poking around in the headset port with a toothpick or something (Not Metal) and see if the sound pops up. If you have headset sound, you have sound. It's a matter of getting it to the speaker.

You are repeating yourself, from your own post earlier in the thread. Stop it. It makes you seem to be posting without regard for the thread itself. In the future, these posts will be removed without notice.
