Pocket Informant 2.0 released with wifi sync to Outlook.
Seems PIM syncing is coming back in season, first Pimlical and then this.
There is a lot of improvements to this new release. Their are actually quite a number of cloud syncing options, including to their own new cloud service, Pocket Informant Online. My interest was in being able to turn off Google Calendars and sync to Outlook. It works just fine, although it is both a little geeky and poorly documented (you have to use the iOS documentation and clearly this version does not have all of the functionality.) It syncs Calendar and asks only, which is fine for now. However, it is still a bit primitive. It doesn't sync category colors. The events only sync to one calendar and end up with that calendar's color even if you have the categories assigned colors in PI. You have to manually recolor each and every event you sync over from Outlook. I'm afraid that a little too much work for me.
I hope they will manage to keep improving the Outlook sync, although it seems to me they are pushing more and more their own optimized cloud sync. Don't really blame them. Pimlical direct sync works so well because now CESD controls the desktop, the app and the databases.
There is a lot more to PI 2.0 than I am focusing on here. See full set of features here:

There is also a free 14-day full featured trial here:
For now, Pimlical suits me fine.
