Default No datas connection with HTC One S unlocked T-Mobile

    Hi everyone,

I got a new One S unlocked T-Mobile that I use with a micro sim card. All is ok with the wifi, but I cannot connect to internet outside my home or office. For example, Navigation is not working, my emails are not sync on the go, etc...
If I look at Settings, Mobile Network, I see Disconnected.Underneath Network Operators, I can see ATT but If I click on Network Operators, Search Network and Select Automatically are grey or white and are not clickable. Do you have an idea on what is going on here? Than you

You need to go to Mobile Networks then Access Point Names, then check if you got a list of names there and one of them is greenly lit.

I don't have any experience with a GSM device, but my first question is, does the phone work as a phone (voice or text messages)? if no, then I'd question the SIM card you're using. if yes, my next question is, does the plan you're signed-up for on AT&T include data?

    good luck, RA

Yes Rick, I can give and receive phone calls as well as messages. I have a Pay as you go plan with auto renewal data package.

If it's an AT&T GoPhone plan, Rick's suggestion about the SIM card might be correct. Did you reuse an older SIM card from a previous device, or is it a relatively new SIM? If an older one, AT&T will replace it - Just stop by an AT&T store. I had a similar experience a few years ago when I upgraded from a basic feature-phone to a smartphone. The old SIM couldn't connect reliably to the network for full data comms. The helpful lady happily swapped it out, no questions or fuss.

Only other suggestion would be to call 611 and check with them. I've had great service from the AT&T Customer Service people once I finally got through the initial automated menu system and spoke to a real, live person. (Just keep pressing "0" at each menu option - It will eventually dump you to a CS Rep.)

Hope this helps, and good luck!

I should only have to LET the technology work for me. If I have to MAKE the technology work for me, it's not a tool - It's a boat anchor. And I've got better things to do than manage boat anchors, especially if I don't have a boat.

My other question would be, if this is a T-Mobile phone, does it have the right radio frequencies for AT&T data? You need both the 850 and 1900 bands, if I remember right. You may just not be able to get 3G. I would think you might still get 2G (edge), but I'm not sure what the status and coverage of that network is.

Hook beat me to it. It might not have the right DATA bands, as opposed to voice bands.

Specs say that the T-Mo One S has GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS 850/1700/1900/2100/2150, so it should work with AT&T's network.

I would second the idea of replacing the SIM, and if that doesn't work, check the data connection settings. It may be trying to log in with the wrong credentials--I had that problem when I manually brought a non-Verizon phone onto a Verizon reseller once. I had to manually change the login username.

The One S works with these bands:
    2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
    3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100
So it should work with T-Mobile.
I use a new Micro Sim card. My older Nokia N8 needed a sim card, the One S needs a micro sim card so I went this week to an ATT dealer to switch my card to a micro sim.
