Installing and UnInstalling apps
Installing and UnInstalling apps on Andrdoid...
Do I need to worry about bits and pieces being left behind when uninstalling Android apps (as happens with desktop programs that install or update the common / system files) ?

No. Linux does a good job of housekeeping. Some programs will leave data folders on your memory card (or internal storage, if that's what your model uses) and those can be easily deleted with a file manager.
