I assumed that the chart was to illustrate at a glance some of the many features that users such as myself depend on. I hadn't seen it before and found it interesting. Thanks for posting it.

I've pretty much reached the point where I don't want or need a desktop app. I've never used Outlook at all, and nowadays I seldom bother to turn on a PC. What I want is a sync between my tablet and my phone, and not much else. I also want a way to store my data where I can get to it from anywhere. I've been using Dropbox for this, but I also have Asus websync and Google Drive available. What I'm planning on in the near future is my own server, using a netbook I no longer use regularly, with an external HDD. I'm planning on installing Debian Linux on it, and setting it up as a web/ftp server. But I will also save copies on the cloud, in case my server bites the dust.

Rick, it's not that that wasn't useful; it's just that it seemed posted in response to my trying to compare it to the built-in Palm PIMs, so in that context, it didn't really add to that specific debate, not that it wasn't helpful. But aside from Lelisa's metaphor (perhaps quite apt), I've still yet to see anything really concrete, that's all.

Just wanted to add that Pimlical is now in Google Play. Not trying to sell it. I've been using it in parallel with my Outlook/ Companion Link/ Deja Office main setup just to see what it will be like when the Android app gets the other PIMs. The DirectSync is the easiest Android sync I have ever used, however I am still on Gingerbread. I think there are some workarounds needed if you are forced to MTP by ICS. It's nice to be able to keep comparing 2 solutions neither of which require me to use Google. I'll see what happens to them when I finally get a Jellybean device. I know many here have no problems with using Google. I've gone off and on using it and I really have no deeply philosophical objections to Google. I just find I prefer when I don't have to. Luckily I'm not big on sharing.

    This is mostly an FYI.

Just thought I would add to this (rather than creating a new thread).

Pimlical has now added the Memos module with direct sync and I am very happy with it. Basic editor on both desktop and handheld and they use direct sync. Because the memos are stored as txt files and not in a data base, you can easily invoke a more powerful text editor on the desktop, make changes and Pimlical happily displays the changes. On the Pimlical Android side, you can also use the Android system sharing system to save memos to dropbox or send the text to an email.

Contacts are coming, but at this point I am using Pimlical for my PIMS and Outlook is just an email client (because it's there already-- Thunderbird would do as well). With the amount of time CESD has to spend in this economy fundraising for the Gorillas, progress on Pimlical is very slow, but I am very happy with what it has become.

Again, not trying to sell. Just a satisfied customer letting folks know that something has changed.

Agree, with enthusiasm. The combo of Pimlical Android and Pimlical Desktop are now, imho, by far the best Android calendaring/PIM going.
