Good you did solve your problem.

The next question I like to ask is why do you even use POP3 on GMail, Hotmail or Yahoo Mail? That method is less than battery efficient for the three, compared to push or sync email.

I only use pop 3 for our church account - the rest come in to my android email app - unless that is pop 3?

Every Android device comes with two email apps, the GMail app, and an email app for everything else. This email app can be configured for POP3, IMAP and Exchange Sync.

I'm using the one that can handle all accounts.

Just for comparison, I got four email accounts on my Android device. They are configured this way.

GMail --- Using the dedicated GMail app that comes with the phone. With the HTC Sense, I actually even activated GMail on the HTC email app as an IMAP account, because it allows you to zoom in and out of the text, but its all taking too much battery being redundant and all so I deactivated it. So just using the primary GMail app now.

Yahoo Mail --- Originally on the email app. Then the official app came along and that's where I used it from here then.

Hotmail --- I put it on the email account. First I placed it on POP3, not knowing any better. Then I set it to using Microsoft Exchange sync. Then the official Hotmail app came along, but it turns out it hogs the battery and doesn't work on Ice Cream Sandwich. So I uninstalled it and put my Hotmail back on the bundled email app on Exchange Sync.

My landline ISP account --- on the email app with POP3. SMTP is set for mobile provider's SMTP server. Doesn't send on wifi or when traveling, but can receive.

I tried all of those apps for the emails that you mentioned - but I just like having all of the emails in one app as opposed to having to open up several different apps to handle my email.. I have all of the accounts check for email every 60 minutes. I probably could have have Hotmail & Gmail check even less frequently since I don't really use those accounts much.
