I may, if I can be bothered to do it. :-)

By the way, in migrating from one phone to another, does Google Play (i.e. app store) work in such a way that I can download all of the programs I've previously downloaded, once I've attached the related google account to it? Do all/most app writers account for this in their licensing?

In my limited experience, yes. I had an in-warranty replacement for my Droid X, and had no problems with any apps from the Google App store/ Play Store

Yes, absolutely. My Samsung Player uses all the same paid apps as my Nexus One and vice versa. The apps are licensed to the account, not the device.

LG Nexus 4: AT&T (Gophone), Android 4.4.2, stock and unrooted-- and probably staying that way.

Thanks! I was a bit concerned about that, but I'm sure they want it to be easy to move between phones. Also nice to know I can use the same apps on more than one phone.

Any apps you purchase are associated with your Google account, not your phone or tablet. You can install and use them on any device under your Google account (assuming they're compatible) and even on multiple devices at the same time, as long as all of those devices are attached to the same account.

Before, back when it was called Android Market, no.

Now, today, in the new age as "Google Play" yes.

I just did a complete restoration on my Acer Iconia A500 tablet. Google Play reinstalled every app I have in my account --- not all, but I guess it has an algorithm to determine which ones are active and which ones I don't use anymore.

I did have multiple Android devices that are backed up into a single account. The resulting restore is kind of like the collective image of my apps from my Google account, including apps that I did not install on my Acer but on my other Android devices. There are apps that installed that wasn't in my Acer before but in my Galaxy Nexus. I also noticed that the restore also installed apps that wasn't in my Acer but was in my Asus tablet.

Strangely enough, one of the Asus utilities for its cloud service, preloaded on my Transformer Prime, is now installed on my Acer.

Not true. Android Market did just fine with providing your apps to whatever new device.

Oh, and Tim, if you would like to pick and chose what gets downloaded to your new device like me, uncheck any automatic updates you have in Google Play (I never allow automatic updates).

Thanks for the suggestion - yeah, I usually turn all that stuff off right away, but it's good to be reminded.

I wonder how much the negatives of this phone will annoy me before I sigh and get used to them.
