Re: Looking for a database program for Android
Thanks for that info, Tim. I agree about HandBase being lacking and toy-like, although I haven't used Memento long enough to find it seriously lacking. But after what you said, I wonder if converting my data to Memento will be worth the trouble in the long run. This is so frustrating! I converted three of my main work dbs to Memento (the ones that have relational data), and so far they're working ok. Most of my other dbs have unrelated data, so perhaps I can keep them as spreadsheets. But I have yet to find a compatible office suite for my Player! Decisions... decisions... I plan to finish my transition to the Player by the end of the month, by which time I'll place my TX in storage. I have to find a working, permanent solution (other than keep using the TX, that is

Re: Looking for a database program for Android
Yeah, I still use my TX quite a lot. I am amazed that it still really holds a charge well after all these years. I use Agendus on it, plus several other very good apps that I've never seen anything as good on in the Android world.
Still never found a great database program for it, though (tho' I used to like Smartlist To Go).
I wonder if PIM and Database functionality will ever become popular in the mobile phone world, like it was in the Palm and Windows Mobile worlds.

How did you go rasabalsa? Did you find a good database app? I am still using my Palm T3 and I use Smartlist T Go. Now that Pimlico is available for android, I'm wondering if the time is right to get a smartphone and put the T3 away. A good database is essential. Basically I want a hand held computer with a phone.

Raspabalsa, have you thought of trying out StyleTap? It allows you to use former Palm apps on your Android OS. It doesn't utilize all of my screen on my phone - but it works great for my Bible programs!

Re: Looking for a database program for Android
Yes, I eventually settled for HandBase for Android. I don't remember what made me change my mind about Memento (all this was half a year ago), but I guess it was too much hassle to convert all my dbs. HandBase is working fine on my device, although it hasn't been updated much, and still lacks some features the PalmOS version had. Also one of the potentially useful features Memento has (ability to include image fields) proved cumbersome, so I settled on a different database and secure vault app (Kuffs Password Safe) to store my encrypted images and data. Once I subtracted this feature from Memento it lost some of its appeal to me. I haven't tried newer versions of Memento, so it may have been improved sometime these last 6 months, and it probably is still a very good option for a database program.
Yes, I even downloaded and installed the trial version. But I only ran it once, then deleted it. I see no point in keep using PalmOS apps on an Android device... I'd rather carry my actual TX! Besides, it's way too expensive. But the main reason is that my transition from PalmOS to Android is complete, even though I've lost some functionality (mainly the IR port). But app-wise I don't miss PalmOS anymore. I fire up my TX less and less frequently, but just for good old times' sake.raspabalsa
