Is there an app like Calibre or Plucker for Android?
I haven't used Calibre very much, but it's an awesome program that runs on WinXP (and others) that, among its features, can download news from the web and convert it into e-book form. SunriseXP/Plucker did much the same for PalmOS. I would like to be able to run Calibre or something similar directly from my internet-connected Android device. Any suggestions?

A couple of suggestions:
Offline Browser
https://market.android.com/details?i....offline&hl=en
If you use Dolphin Browser there's an add-on that can save pages as a PDF.
https://market.android.com/details?i...e=related_apps
Offline Web Reader Free
https://market.android.com/details?i...aderfree&hl=en
Fair warning: I haven't actually tried any of these. These days I'm very rarely away from wireless access to the Web. Back in the PDA era, though, I was a huge fan of AvantGo, but that awsome app is long gone.

Thanks, Ed. I was a big fan of AvantGo, too. I'll check out your suggestions. In addition, RSS feeds are pretty good, and there are news apps that allow for offline reading, too. I'm sure I'll find something that'll work for me.
One reason I'd like something like Calibre on board is because even with nearly ubiquitous internet access, it's not always fast or as convenient as offline reading. I still don't have enough experience with Calibre, but I'm sure I'll use it a bit with my Nook Color. SunriseXP/Plucker was clearly among the best, allowing me to exclude a bunch of the fluff you get with a browser. It's also nice to have something for air travel when internet access is not available. This Signature Line Intentionally Left Blank

Maybe not quite what you are after but
Save this page
is a good app to use for offline web viewing.
Go to the site you want.
Choose share then save this page and you have a copy of that page for later viewing offline

What about turning the feeds you want into "ebooks" in Calibre? Then you can open them through Aldiko (best ebook app on Android).

Re: Is there an app like Calibre or Plucker for Android?
Calibre + Dropbox + Dropsync + Aldiko = Happy Camper, so far.
Calibre automatically runs on my PC and Dropbox syncs the ePub files to the cloud. Dropsync automatically syncs the files on my Nookcolor where I can read them with Aldiko.
I actually started down the path of using SunriseXP thinking I could read the files with FBReaderJ, but it doesn't support .pdb files (yet). I'm still a huge fan of SunriseXP.
I've also been using Read It Later Pro. The best solution for me thus far has been to set up a number of RSS feeds in Google Reader. With the Read It Later add-in for Firefox, I simply scan through the RSS feed headlines and click the Read It Later flag. Moments later, the full article is on my Nookcolor in a beautiful, very readable format (with graphics and video). Bonus (accidental) feature: It seems that New York Times RSS feeds through Google Reader that end up in Read It Later make it past the NYT paywall.

jig, you got a decent .pdf viewer in Android? Try Magazinify

As long as you can open the content in a web browser, you have an email account, and you have a .pdf viewer, Magazinify is the KISS approach."Do or do not. There is no try." - Yoda.
