Re: Android on palm
The Android fans are enthusiastic about the possibilities of this new operating system, and they are optimistic about it being ported to a wide variety of devices.
That said, porting it to older devices like the Palm TX might be a stretch. It would take a Linux guru who is also a Palm fan.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but it wouldn't be a trivial task, and it would take just the right set of circumstances.

Re: Android on palm
I would think that only the newest devices, such as the newly re-released Centro would even stand a chance of running Android. You're going to need a lot of RAM, free DBCache, and heap memory.
Current Device: Samsung Galaxy Note II - Rooted Stock ROM
Retired Device: HTC EVO Shift 4G - (Rooted) JellyBelly ROM 4.1.2
Tablet: Kindle Fire

Re: Android on palm
That would be great but not very likely.
I noticed a LONG time ago some companies successfully had some versions of linux and actual GUI running on old palm units, so it's possible in theory, but they are all long gone and I don't think anything has any plans for it now.

Re: Android on palm
Probably unlikely. The most promising porting targets right now are recent HTC winmo handsets and some Nokia hardware (N810, N95). The one thing they have in common is 128MB ram. The 32MB ram of TX will probably not be able to accommodate Android's software stack.

Re: Android on palm
Actually, the TX has 128MB of flash ROM, (100MB user-accessible) which is used as storage. This is where apps reside. As for real RAM,the TX has two chunks: a 12.8MB area known as dbcache, which is where apps are copied to at launch time, and a 6MB area known as dynamic heap, which is where the programs load their executable code. I have no idea how Android works with memory, so can't tell if this is enough for its requirements. But I think it's highly unlikely we'll see this OS on a TX or any other current PalmOS device.

Re: Android on palm
Android officially requires 128MB of dynamic (non-flash) ram and 256MB of flash. (https://sites.google.com/a/android.c...lease-features) In contrast I believe the TX only offers 32MB of ram and 128MB of flash.
